The Knoxville Volunteer
Emergency
Rescue Squad
The Knoxville Volunteer
Emergency Rescue Squad, Inc. is responsible for the provision of primary rescue
services to the citizens of Knox County, Tennessee. It also provides secondary
vehicle rescue and primary technical rescue services to the City of Knoxville.
Other services to both City and County include emergency medical first response,
medical stand-by, animal rescue/removal, and water rescue/recovery. Extensive
technical rescue assets are also provided. The six Specialty Rescue Teams have
extensive training, equipment, and capabilities in cave/vertical/confined space
operations, heavy/technical rescue (including farm accidents, airplane
accidents, as well as trench collapses), water rescue (both top and underwater
operations), land based search operations, support services and disaster/medical
operations.
Our membership is entirely volunteer. No charges are levied for our service.
Members receive no compensation and often extend considerable personal expense
for training, personal equipment, and other miscellaneous expenses the Squad
cannot provide. Service is provided 24 hours per day, 7 days per week, 365 days
per year. Stations are located in the East, West, North, and South areas of Knox
County. If you would like to inquire about membership, please fill out the
Membership Inquiry form.

have responded to many needs in our community. Want to join our caring
team? Your membership will help us continue to ensure our community that
when needed, "We'll be there!". Application period for the January
